format of textures ?

I'm getting really dark results with some of my textures, so I'm wondering what is the exact format for the textures, specifically the normal map.

The testmodmaster contains both DDS and PNG for the centipede diffuse, but the def_material points to the png one.

should one use png format ?, and png for normal maps also in tangent space where RGB channels are used without alpha ?

Good questions! The editor automatically converts PNG files to DDS files. When the mod is packaged you can drop the PNG files, as they are not needed once the textures have been converted.

Spec map's alpha channel controls the tighness of the specular reflection.
