The asset pack containing all the definitions for built-in assets and level files for the world map & tutorial level has been released.

This is great! 8-)

—But will this eventually include a copy of the media files? (models & textures)

I'll have to talk with Juho how he feels about it. I can imagine textures would be nice to have (for reskinning). Models would probably be less useful, right?

In the case of reskinning the textures, yes indeed... but without the model, one could only preview their results in the game; rather than be able to inspect (and correct) it from any angle on the model.

If one has access to the models, one can —potentially, with the right tools— create additional animations for them, and use them as a basis for new or modified walls, structures or creatures.

Age of Wonders 3 has a toolkit that allows for importing models to be applied to their skeletons; and to use their animations. What it does not do, is allow the end user to export the game models. For Druidstone, it could be enough to allow user animations for the official skeletons... as well as (hopefully) the import of user mesh & skeletons for custom units. Triumph Studios did release the skeletons for user modding [afaik].

John Wordsworth mentioned a Druidstone format update for his GMT, but there has been no further mention of it. :(
